Soups are one of the greatest and one of the most beneficial foods you can introduce to your babies. They develop healthy eating habits once they regularly start feeding on soups. Soups are the best ways in which you can introduce vegetables and fruits and also getting them accustomed to them at an early age. You can start feeding your child with different types of soups, one of the most preferred choices today are the pureed soups, they contain a good texture. Serve your child soups in whatever way they like to feed whether it is by spoon, cup or just sipping away in a bottle.
Pureed soups are pretty easy to make and even a beginner can get good hands at it after trying it just for the first time. You can invest your money in buying one hand held immersion blender which will help make your pureed soup making experience, a hassle free one. For the starters you can try with pureed soups of asparagus with cream, they are really exotic in taste and your child gets accustomed to the taste at an early age. The fruit soups are equally good as they are healthy and refreshing. Most of the fruits do not require a cooking; they are just blended with in a blender with little or no amount of waters. Kids develop a good choice at early age for fruits if you start giving them fruit soups. Here is one healthy soup recipe that would help you get started with good introduction of soups to your kids:
Cream Asparagus soup
If your toddler has started having teeth, than cooked asparagus spears make really a good teething experience. Any kid would eat the vegetable in a soup, the asparagus is a creamy soup so they would love the taste. You can help them sip away with cup or with spoon, in whatever ways they had prefer. Make sure to check the temperature before serving the soup to your kid. For the ingredients you would require:
Chopped Asparagus – 1 pound
Chopped celery & Onion – ½ cup each
Peeled and cubed one medium potato
1-cup dairy or coconut milk
Chicken or vegetables 3 cups
2 tbsp of olive oil
½ tbsp of herbs
Salt and pepper to taste
Add oil, celery and onions in a large soup pot under medium heat, you can sauté them until the vegetables are a little soft. Then you can add asparagus, herbs, potato and vegetables to it. Boil them in a high heat flame. Later on, reduce the heat and cover it and let it simmer for around 15 minutes. You can puree the soup with a hand blender. Stir it well with any milks and add salt and pepper according to the taste and serve it hot.
The leftover soup can be frozen for up to 2 months of time and you can even make it a family fun by making your souping experience by encouraging your kids to create their own soup bar. For this you can create a simple soup recipe by putting it into the bowls or cups and let your kids make their own topping by selecting any of these: sliced green onions, cilantro topping, avocado cubes, lemon or lime wedges, sour cream, bits bacon, ham or chicken, cheese, broiled cheese toasts and more.
A child develops a healthy eating pattern if started with vegetable and fruit soups at an early age, they develop a liking for a particular taste at the very start since they are toddlers. Introduce maximum amount of fresh fruits and vegetables in their diet.
